  • TÜSİAD has been founded on 2 April 1971.
  • TÜSİAD is an entrepreneurial representative organisation founded by the leading industrialists of Turkey in 1971, operating on a voluntary basis and followed closely by the national and international public.
  • As of the year 2009, TÜSİAD is comprised of approximately 600 individual members. Each year TÜSİAD continues to grow within the formal economy.
  • TÜSİAD has Washington and EU-Brussels Representative Offices as well as Paris, Berlin and Beijing offices abroad.
  • TÜSİAD is a member of the Confederation of European Business (BUSINESSEUROPE) that is the representative organisation of the European private sector.
  • TÜSİAD has pioneered the founding and development of industrialist and businessmen’s organisations (known as ‘SİAD’s in Turkish) as well as sectoral associations. It has contributed to the formation of the confederations consisting of these organisations
  • TÜSİAD is a member of one sectoral organisation it has assisted in the establishment of as well as six regional federations that are all members of the Turkish Enterprise and Business Confederation (TÜRKONFED).
  • TÜSİAD is a member of the Union of Mediterranean Confederations of Enterprises (BUSINESSMED) formed by the business world organisations of the countries situated in the Mediterranean basin.
  • TÜSİAD is one of the founding members of the Union of Black Sea and Caspian Confederation of Enterprises (UBCCE), an international union bringing together the private business organizations of the Black Sea and Caspian Region.
  • TÜSİAD is a member of the “Business and Industry Advisory Committee” (BIAC) that operates at the level of the OECD.
  • TÜSİAD carries out its activities with a professional staff of 55 people employed within the administrative capacity in the Secretariat General, the Representations and university forums.
  • TÜSİAD’s Ankara Representation is basically responsible for relations with the government and the Parliament.
  • There are 9 committees and 34 working groups operating within TÜSİAD’s structure.
  • TÜSİAD organises 3 High Advisory Council Meetings and 1 General Assembly Meeting with its members on an annual basis.
  • TÜSİAD’s headquarters has been classified as a 2nd degree historical building termed as the “Bodvil Building” in the Pera district of Istanbul.
  • TÜSİAD has formed the “Competitiveness Forum” with Sabancı University and the “Economic Research Forum” with Koç University within the framework of the University Partnership Forums.
  • TÜSİAD has pioneered the establishment of a think-tank called, “Paris Bosphorus Institute” in France.
