A delegation from TÜSİAD visited Holland for meetings on 21st June. Headed by Mrs. Ümit Boyner, the President of the Board of Directors of TÜSİAD, the delegation had meetings with TÜSİAD’s Dutch counterpart organization VNO-CNW (the Confederation of Netherlands Industry and Employers) President Bernard Wientjes in The Hague.
Meetings were held with Dutch politicians such as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for the Economy, Agriculture and Innovation Maxime Verhagen, Senate Speaker René van der Linden and Christian Democrat Party (CDA) Parliamentary Party chief Sybrand van Haersma Buma.
TÜSİAD President Ümit Boyner gave a speech at a seminar held by ING Bank in Rotterdam entitled “Holland and Turkey: Sustainable Partnership”. In her speech Boyner stated that the EU needed Turkey’s dynamism and that a Europe that excluded or alienated Turkey would find it difficult to maintain international competitiveness.
Following these contacts, TÜSİAD President Ümit Boyner told journalists that the meetings had considered bilateral political, economic and social relations, and exchanged ideas on Turkey’s EU accession process.
As well as TÜSİAD President Ümit Boyner, the delegation members included Mr. Aldo Kaslowski, the Vice-President of the High Advisory Council, Mr. Volkan Vural, TÜSİAD Board Member and President of External Relations & EU Affairs Committee, Mrs. Cansen Başaran Symes, TÜSİAD Board Member and President of Company Affairs Committee Cansen Başaran Symes, TÜSİAD International Coordinator Dr. Bahadır Kaleağası and TÜSİAD External Policy Advisor Soli Özel.
