Koç University-TÜSİAD Economic Research Forum arranged a conference titled "Real Exchange Rates and the Real Economy" on March 18th, 2011. Opening speeches were made by Mrs. Ümit Boyner, the President of TÜSİAD Board of Directors and Prod. Dr. Barış Tan, the Faculty Dean of the Koç University.
The speakers addressing the conference main theme were Copenhagen University Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Katarina Juslius who spoke on "The release of Asset Prices and Structural Collapse in an Atmosphere of Insufficient Information", and Koç University Faculty Member Associate Prof. Dr. Rehim Kılıç who spoke on "Can Exchange Rates Be Forescast in the Same Way?"
A panel was also held under the moderation of Bosphorus University Faculty Member Dr. Ümit İzmen on "Interactions Between Real Exchange Rates and the Real Economy: Examples from Turkey and the World". The panel was addressed by TÜSİAD Head Economist Hünkar Cem Doğan, Koç Holding Strategic Planning Group Chairman Tamer Haşimoğlu, TOBB Economy and Technology University Faculty Member Associate Prof. Dr. Ümit Özlale and Marmara University Faculty Member Associate Prof. Dr. Mehmet Şişman.
