Ms. Ümit Boyner attended to the Istanbul Global Forum

Ms. Ümit Boyner, President of the Board of Directors of TÜSİAD attended to the Istanbul Global Forum on October 13th, 2012 and delivered a speech.

Ms. Ümit Boyner reminded that even if it is not known how long it will take, the world will recover from the current economic crisis in some way or another, and she said: “The new economy will have to place the principles of equality, fairness and confidence right next to the principles of efficiency, productivity and profitability.” Boyner underlined the fact that there is a resistance to the globalization taking precedence over national sovereignty not at the level of governments but also at the level of the general public, and she said: “We must understand the source of the resistance against the globalization. We must consider the whole issue within the context of justice. The existence of a strong sense of justice in the society, the widespread belief that the system is just, and the distribution is fair, all these are essential for the healthiness of the growth and the economy in general. Sooner or later the crisis will be overcome, but we should see that the current crisis which causes great troubles for millions of people is also a crisis of ethics and legitimacy.”
