TÜSİAD and St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on November 30th, 2012, in Istanbul.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Ms. Ümit Boyner, President of the Board of Directors of TÜSİAD and Mr. Alexander Stuglev, Director of SPIEF Foundation. Under the memorandum, TÜSİAD and SPIEF agree to organize joint activities and events in partnership and to collaborate in the organization and promotion of the events organized by each parties.
In the meeting, Ms. Ümit Boyner expressed her gladness in being the only regional partner of SPIEF in Turkey, also known as “the Davos of Russia”, which is one of the most significant global business events. She also stressed her belief that this partnership will provide for the business communities of both Russia and Turkey, new fields of cooperation.
Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) is a high level summit meeting which gathers international political and business leaders, leading scientists, public figures and members of the media. It is founded in1997, and organized yearly since 2006 under the auspices of the President of the Russian Federation. A leading global event of the last 5 years, SPIEF was organized in 2012 with the main theme of “Effective Leadership” and hosted more than 5000 participants. TÜSİAD participated in this forum for the first time in 2012 and organized a session on the Turkish economy titled “Turkey’s Shifting Investment Flows”. TÜSİAD will organize a similar high level session on Turkey during the coming SPIEF to be organized next year, on 20th – 22th June, 2013.
