Ms. Ümit Boyner, attended to the "3rd International Women Entrepreneurship and Leadership Summit" organized by KAGİDER

Ms. Ümit Boyner, President of the Board of Directors of TÜSİAD, attended to the opening session of the “3rd International Women Entrepreneurship and Leadership Summit” organized by KAGİDER on November 8th, 2012, and delivered a speech.

In her speech, Ms. Ümit Boyner noted that developmental indicators of our country do not reflect closely our economic achievements in the global arena; and she said: “If the women do not participate in the economy and do not get their fair share of the prosperity and the wealth, it is impossible that our country ranks among the major league players, be it the EU membership or the inclusion in the group of the developed countries.” Ms. Boyner remarked that the 21st century is different from the one we were born to and whose norms we are accustomed, and it is ever changing. She reminded that uncertainties are still looming large in the world economy. Ms. Boyner stressed the importance of the women’s participation to the economic and the political life for the implementation of more balanced and sustainable policies, and she insisted that this should be understood by every party, not as a woman’s problem, but as a social problem. Boyner stated that we have to include and internalize the angle of social gender equality in all the policies.
