TÜSİAD President Ümit Boyner visits Adana and Mersin

 

In the framework of her Adana – Mersin visit TÜSİAD President Ümit Boyner first visited Adana on 25th May. Ümit Boyner attended the “Economy Evaluation Meeting” hosted by the Adana Young Businessmen’s Association (AGİAD) and Adana Industrialists and Businessmen’s Association (ADSİAD) as guest speaker.
 
During the meeting Ümit Boyner gave her assessment of the global economic situation and the Turkish economy. With reference to the election period, Boyner stated that this ought to be a period when Turkey’s current fundamental issues were put up for discussion of the political parties’ proposed solutions. Saying that it was impossible to claim that such an atmosphere existed, Boyner stressed that a “mud throwing period” was being experienced in which politics was conducted with reference to non-political issues, while Turkey’s energies were being wasted.
 
Pointing to the need to be competitive in the race for growth in the world, Boyner stated that success would not come solely by getting richer.  The TÜSİAD President went on to assert “It is essential that Turkey achieves its stated aim of moving from its current 83rd place in the World Human Development Index into its deserved rank amongst the world’s top ten economies by realizing structural reforms towards fair income distribution, quality of education, addressing regional developmental disparities, increasing social participation and allocation, enhancing freedom of the press and freedom of expression, and implementing an impartial and efficient judicial system.”
 
Meeting with Adana Young Businessmen’s Association (AGİAD) and Adana Industrialists and Businessmen’s Association (ADSİAD), Boyner also visited Mersin where she attended the 7th Annual Businessmen’s Awards ceremony of the Mersin Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (MESİAD).
