The "Family Companies Platform" seminars continue with Ankara and Mersin meetings

Supported by TÜRKONFED (the Turkish Enterprise and Business Confederation) and TİDE (the Institute of Internal Auditing - Turkey), TÜSİAD and TKYD (the Corporate Governance Association of Turkey) held the latest in their series of seminars under the “Family Companies Platform” banner in Ankara and Mersin during the month of May.

 
The opening speeches at the third leg of the seminar series in Ankara were delivered by TÜSİAD President Ümit Boyner, TKYD President and TÜSİAD Board Member Muharrem Yılmaz, TÜRKONFED Vice President Azmi Kelemcisoy, Inner Anatolia Federation of Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Associations (İÇASİFED) President Nihat Güçlü, and Ankara Chamber of Industry President M. Nurettin Özdebir.
 
In her address, Ümit Boyner stated that Turkey’s economic development required the strengthening of the foundations of the 95% of companies that there were family firms, and drew attention to the importance of corporate governance in this context. Stressing that especially during the past decade in Turkey, companies that instigated good corporate governance on their own initiative had reached a significant competitive level in order to take their place in global markets, Boyner also referred to the importance of corporatization in the struggle against the informal economy. 
 
TKYD Board Member and TÜSİAD Corporate Governance Working Group President Dr. Murat Doğu, TÜRKONFED President Erdem Çenesiz, Mersin Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (MESİAD) President Ali Doğan and TÜSİAD President Ümit Boyner addressed the fourth leg of the seminar series held in Mersin on 25th May.
 
Advice centering on family companies was offered by specialist experts within the scope and context of the TÜSİAD-prepared “Corporate Governance Principles for Management Boards”, “Internal Auditing Practices in the Real Sector: Assessment and Recommendations”, “12 Questions About Internal Auditing that Need to be Asked at Management Boards” and “Corporate Risk Management” reports as well as the TKYD-prepared work “Family Companies Management Guide in the Light of Corporate Governance Principles”.
