Koç University-TÜSİAD Economic Research Forum holds conference on economic fluctuation in emerging markets

 

The Koç University - TÜSİAD Economic Research Forum held a conference at the Istanbul Ceylan Intercontinental Hotel on 24th June entitled “Business Cycles in Emerging Economies and Leading Indicators”
 
Shedding light on the debate about economic overheating in Turkey, the conference opening speeches were delivered by TÜSİAD Vice President Tayfun Bayazıt, and Deputy Head of the Central Bank of Turkey Associate Prof. Mehmet Yörükoğlu. Recalling the policy reform implemented in the aftermath of the 2000-2001 crises and the achievement of a level of durability even in the face of major crises, Tayfun Bayazıt stated “This durability should not deter us from striving to understand, forecast and manage economic fluctuations.” 
 
California Riverside University Lecturer Marcelle Chauvet, Australian La Trobe University’s Don Harding, Central Bank Research and Monetary Policy General Directorate Research Group economist Çağrı Sarıkaya and the Director of the Koç University - TÜSİAD Economic Research Forum Prof. Dr. Sumru Altuğ each gave a presentation to the conference.
