Ümit Boyner made an opening statement in the “2012 Turkey Tourism Summit”

"2012 Turkey Tourism Summit" held by the Culture and Tourism Ministry took place on  February 8th, 2012 in the Lütfi Kırdar Convention Center.

In the summit opened by the Minister of Culture and Tourism Ertuğrul Günay, the President of the Board of Directors Ümit Boyner made an opening statement.

In her opening statement, Boyner noted that since the 80’s, Turkish tourism has shown a strikingly accelerated development in accordance with the global trends set by the technological progress and the changing modes of travelling. Boyner focused on the importance of tourism policies and expressed that crafting forward looking tourism policies which support economic and development policies both at the national and international level, will increase competitiveness and strengthen the economy. Boyner emphasized that TÜSİAD is ready to support efforts in this direction, and she pointed that within TÜSİAD there is an active Tourism Working Group. Boyner reported that tourism is one of the sector in TÜSİAD’s focus of interest and she said “As we are working hard to reduce the current deficit, we have to analyze the economic conjuncture correctly, but for maintaining our competitiveness, we also have to identify the reasons why the targeted high income tourists should prefer and choose Turkey as their destination.
