Ms. Ümit Boyner attended to the seminar of TÜRKONFED in Adana

Ms. Ümit Boyner, President of the Board of Directors of TÜSİAD, attended to the “2nd Symposium on the Regional Dynamics of the Development” organized by TÜRKONFED on November 2nd, 2012, in Adana, and delivered a speech.

Ms. Boyner emphasized the importance of the competition for the economy in her speech, and underlined that the efficiency of the use of the financial and natural resources in a region forms the basis of the regional competitive power in the long term. Ms. Boyner spoke as follows: “When the strategies for the enhancement of the regional competitive power are designed, in fact we focus on the question of how to use the local financial, natural and human capital resources more effectively and more efficiently. And we believe that to provide the vision for the regional development strategies and for the effective use of regional resources is primarily the responsibility of the local business world, producing and creating jobs in the region.” Ms. Boyner reminded that the regional policies have become an important tool for developing a fair and environmentally sustainable economy; and she said: “Today regional development policies aim at the growth and at enhancing competitiveness, instead of just catching up the more prosperous regions. Furthermore, the regional policies are developed and implemented not only for the underdeveloped regions, but also strategically for all the regions in order to ensure sustainability and competitiveness. However approaching to the issues of the economic development merely in the context of government policies and incentives is an outdated concept.”
